Yes, it certainly sounds puzzling that one has to commit to a pre-order to be allowed to beta test something. The game is a new concept which is a totally unknown quantity, how are we supposed to know if we want to pre-order it when we don't know what it's going to be like? I'll wait until it comes out and I see the reviews, too!

Other players being able to destroy my base is gonna piss me off, I read that you can "move" your base and it logs off with you so that alleviates my fears a bit. I'm hoping that this'll be a case "not as bad as it seems" but apparently other players can nuke your base in one hit if they have the weapon for it.

Sounds interesting the way they've set up the anti-griefing measures but I'm still not that interested in MP. Unless you can form teams to have a go at a specific target or quest (and I guess you can), I can't see any reason to play MP. I have zero interest in PvP.

Easily exploitable 'pvp invitation element' .

- You can trick people easily into pvp even if they are not interested. How? Just walk into their line of fire when they are in combat against some NPCs for a quest or so. The moment they accidently hit you ( I wonder if you can use stealth for this, so they really don't see it coming), you just have to fire back to trigger full damage pvp. Whether that other guy wanted to or not. He shot you , so clearly invited you for pvp :p

- Band of griefers. Give your caps to your buddies and start killing players. Your buddies can scout for you (they don't have the murder tag) and you can just kill without consequense, because you can't lose caps that you don't have. It could be even used to create a trap this way when using the line of fire to trigger full damage pvp.

Anyway, another company starting a pvp game and trying to reinvent the pvp wheel. So far the only game I've seen with a mix of PVE players and PVP players that works, is EVE Online with its safe zones. The whole game is built around that system.

I hope they will release dedicated servers so that people can set up their own rules (for pvp and pve). Because the way it is explained now , you can't really avoid pvp at all. PVE only players will be very disappointed wth that rule set.

EDIT : Apparently you can declare yourself as a 'pacifist'. This means your attacks will can't start PVP at all. Not sure if it affects more things that this. But this at least prevents the scenario where a stray bullet suddenly puts you into a pvp fight that you did not ask for.

Good new gameplay video of Fallout 76: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1UmOTRz8lg . It does look pretty fun, even if played alone, I have to admit....

(Just hope the anti-griefing system really works!)

I been going over all the "Hands On" video's and it does look like fun, as for the anti-griefing you just leave the griefer and you wont get griefed.

What I want to know is how is the building thing works, does it when you pack it up it packs everything or do you have to scrap everything you built so you can move to a new area?

I suspect the latter, because terrain is not the same everywhere. The world is not flat like in TS4. The packing up is probably just for when moving servers or going offline, but it stays in the same geographical location of the map.

In several of the hands on they were saying packing up there work station and moving to another area to set up a new camp.

You get a Mobil camp unit and I am just wondering how it gets all packed up, scraping everything you made or does it pack up all your workstations and your able to unpack them when you get to your new site.

We will have to wait and see.

Reviews aren't looking great. Apparently it's incredibly lonely even for a multiplayer game. NPCs have always made up the bulk of Fallout's charm for me, I feel they're sacrificing something really integral about the spirit of fallout to accomodate current gaming trends.

I tried to watch the Live Streams that were out there today but gave up because the players were all just stupid in how they were playing.
Most of them never looked down around there feet and missed a lot of stuff.
They chose to scrap the fighting knife and keep the machete but if they would look at the stats of both the knife will do more damage in the end because of how fast it is to strike.
They were racing to get somewhere and did not search the area they were in but they never got to where they wanted to go and right in the middle they change up and go somewhere else.

You make your plan and you go for it.

Okay my finale report on 76.

I like it and if you like survival mode in Fallout 4 you will love 76.
You can play on your own or in a small group of up to 4.
There seems to be some NPC's in the game, 1 super mutant trader. (Could be more.)
There seems to be someone you talk to over a speaker and do a few quest for but I am not done with the quest and when done you may get to meet her.

I am hoping to see more NPC's other than robots in this game but with just a little over 24 hours of game play I have just barley scratch the surface of the game in beta.

Beta is now over and all of us will have to wait for the 14th for the launch of the real game.
I and all beta players seem to be able to keep what we have done in beta when the game is launched.

Use the ""tag"" option on armor and weapons repair and making for easy searching for the components needed.
((((DON'T be afraid of dropping junk you only have 400lb of storage, just tag junk you use and just collect that, plastic is one item you will need some in to bundle up your junk.))))

This will be my finale update on Fallout 76.

I like the game play but hate that there are no humans other than other players that you can not talk to unless you team up together. (As long as you do not block it in settings you can talk to other players as long as they to do not block it, but most if not all players has that blocked now.)

Stash box got an upgrade to 600 lb's instead of just 400 lb's which helps a lot and will become even larger over time. (How larger we don't know yet.)
There are still many bugs that will need to be worked out but for me I do not see most of the bugs everyone else is complaining about so I think its there computer that can not handle the game.

The main quest is to follow the Overseer's quest of securing the nuke silo's.

I started with Fallout 3 and came to learn to hate the Enclave. (I will say no more here on this topic.) Its a spoiler and I will not spoil you with what I know.

They have said that there will be some mod support but that will be a long time from now.

So if you like Fallout 4 hardcore mode then you will like Fallout 76 because you can fast travel without mods but if not to one of your workbenches or camp or even to vault 76 it will cost you caps to do so.

Springs, lead, gears and a few other junk are hard to come by and you will use them in a lot of things you do on the weapon/armor benches. (Lead is there and is needed for making bullets and is hard to find but can be mined.) There are maps on the internet to show where all the mining sites are.

Thanks for the update, and having watched a few gameplay videos it looks fun enough. I'm going to wait until it's been out a while longer before buying, for more of the big bugs to be patched (and the price will have come down more by then too!). Am looking forward to seeing what modding is going to be possible.

Unless they bring in private servers it will only be what you can see in looks.
There will be better looking grass and trees and such.

As far as I can see the skins they are using are the same for Fallout 4 so if your into it then the players who like to run around in just underwear will be naked with mods. LOL

Inventory will remain server side just like the camp you can build, mods will only be able to change the way things look.

Thanks for the info - been busy lately with FO4 creation and not had time to keep up with what's new in FO76! So now I've just gone over to Nexus to see what FO76 mods they have up so far. Looks like mainly recolours (default replacements?) and sound replacers at the moment. Recolours can be pretty useful for a bit of variety, so that's something, but obviously would be better if they can be material swaps and not just default replacements.

Yep, I guessed that nude underwear would be one of the first things someone would make, LOL!

I do wonder if they will bring in private servers - hope so.

Oh well, I got the game a few days ago at half-price on Amazon, and am having a great time with it. I wasn't keen at paying full price, especially as I've never been an online multiplayer fan, I only like single play, and the internet kept telling me FO76 was the worst game ever in the history of the world. But thought I would take a chance at half price and was very pleasantly surprised. Am not the least interested in the PvP aspect but I love Bethesda's big detailed worlds and roaming around exploring and discovering new places and new quests, finding useful goodies and crafting stuff, I find that all a nice relaxing pastime, and this is Beth's biggest world yet. I just avoid other players (I did once get attacked while crafting by some griefer, but ignored him and he lost interest, he went off shooting at other players in the street nearby) and have a good time just being a lone wanderer.

Your own mileage will vary, of course.

I think, from what I've read in various places, that the recent last patch that made tons and tons of bugfixes solved much of the original problems; I got my copy after that patch and haven't had any problems of note.

@Esmeralda

I never did have any of the problems that other posted about, I did have 3 that no one else posted about and they got fixed fast and they were not game breaking so I just kept on playing.

You will find out there are several quest you can not do alone no matter how high in levels you get, 1 player just can not do them alone.

But I agree that you can still have fun with it.
