C-Program files (X86) - Origin games - The Sims Ultimate Collection - Fun with Pets - SP9 - TSBin - and here is the icon that says SP9. Select the icon. (Edit - it is the Mansion&Garden stuff icon).

The patch will inform you in a second or so that it was patched and it is done.

And how do I get rid of it? It installed just fine, but since it did I've begun having problems I never had before. NOW I have the flashing pink, something I'd never seen. And more troubling, I'm getting this object error on my sims themselves. Again, this is nothing I've seen. I'm thinking this patch is fighting with my computer. Can I just go to intall/uninstall and get rid of it?

Huh, that's weird. To get rid of it, first show file name extensions. Then go to the folder with the patched executable. Check that there's a backup of it with the .bak extension. If it's there, delete the patched version (Sims2EP9.exe, I believe) and rename the backup file to remove the .bak extension.

Thanks, I hate, but I'm going to need someone with windows 10 to tell me. My file explorer doesn't have anything identified as tools. I finally played around and got something, but it's search tools, and I don't think that's it.

FOUND IT! I deleted the exe file. It was named 4g patch.exe. I removed the backup extension from the backup. But now it's an executable. Should I remove it, too?

thank you for your help and patience.

You're right! And a lot of that was my fault. When the problem started, my first thought was to come here where I got it. But I'll try to be a good girl from now on.

Thanks, Ihate! I think that fixed it

@smorbie1 I'd collect the links that people have offered and add them to the first post so they don't get lost in the convo.

The 4GB patch did came in handy yesterday when my game hanged because it ran out of free memory. It worked well in my Win7 (x86) system.

Ooooh, I would, too. I just have to figure out how. Suppose I can just copy and edit them in? I'll give it a go. Thanks for the suggestion; I hadn't thought about how to maintain the thread. :lovestruc

Okay, it's done. It's rubbish and ugly, but it's there. I'll work on it bit by bit. Do you happen to know how to just type the words, have them be all dark and linky without my actually having to type the link itself? That would make it easier. many of you have done this in the thread itself, but it doesn't copy and paste that way, and I would like for it to be easier for people to use.

Thanks again for your help.

The 4GB patch is not doing that - Sims 2 has been made to use 2GB RAM. The 4GB patch forces the game (or any other application you need more RAM for) to use 4 and not 2.
(It may be affected by how much RAM you have on your pc - if you have 8 or more it should not be a problem. Although I am not completely sure about this, it does make some sense to me).

Edit - what limit on Windows 10? What are you talking about?

Doh! win 10..sorry. That tells you how much I know macs. lol
@Justpetro just incase this was meant for me, I was not talking about the 4GB patch, but rather, 4GB worth of CC.

I got that, Rosebine

I have had more than 12GB in my downloads at one stage (that was when I was taking part in a specific competition that required a lot of cc I don't normally use, and of course I downloaded about 5 times more than those that I actually used) - so I cannot agree that there is a limit on Windows 10

As an example. [url=https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/827218/how-to-determine-whether-a-computer-is-running-a-32-bit-version-or-64]here is how to check[/url

You just have to add an extra ] at the end.

Slower for the extra dumb among me. So, if I want to link someone to that thread, I would paste https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help827218/how-to-determine-whether-a-computer-is-running-a-32-bit-version-or-64. Then I would a right-facing bracket in front of https? Or do I need to type url=?. Then I would put a left-facing bracket behind 64? Is the next part also part of what I have to type?

Sorry. New information, old chemo-soaked brain. (Also techno stupid from birth)

You should just be able to post the link text and the site will automatically parse it for you:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca...t-version-or-64

Edit - yup, works

I no longer come over to MTS very often but if you would like to ask me a question then you can find me on tumblr or my own site tflc. TFLC has an archive of all my CC downloads.

thanks. But some of the people were able to just write the name of the fix and it would appear the dark color of the link and would link the person to it without having to write out the url, like Ihate did in the second post. That's what I was wondering about.
