I just got a Chinese food delivery person called Armando Player! I wonder if he's a Romance!

A Townie named Zeeshaun with bright red hair and neon green eyes spawned as the bartender of two clubs downtown in my game. He's probably my most favorite townie.

My male Sims are...Simulicious!

I would love him to be made romantic on purpose. Sadly, not even the pricipal characters have been fully developed. The others are just random with no life in them. The Pleasantview townies and downtownies are immediately recognizable because of their name and look respectively, and everyone should be like that.

I had one male Leelaporn, and luckily he had the bit silly ('african') face and a shabby red sweater. So the name fit him well. He lived in Bluewater, which was a miserable low class neighborhood. The black male downtownie with red sloppy sportswear was named Fuchs in my game. I renamed him promptly, because he was handsome and downtown should be respectable, for the sake of fighting randomness.

The Diva was called Caryl Vu. I think she deserved a longer name being the Diva, but as a compromise the "Vu" name got wiped from the rest of the hood, and Caryl Vu had a reason to poke and throw drink at anyone who bore her name without authorization. Mr. Big was called David Gregory, which was unique and alright.

I felt very confused revisit another instance of downtown afer a while. Is it possible to disable the name randomizer, and leave the Tricou teens as "Teens", the blonde teen as Rose Miller, etc? (which makes sense if you write her as a recent arrival from the countryside, the name is a spark for further story development.)

I don't envy the development team for having their names tarnished by idiots who kick over trash cans or poke a hundred times. If their name were to be used, the team member should have a say what their character would be. He could be a goofy Goopy if their owner chooses so for their avatar, but it shouldn't be decided by the almighty random number generator.

More "Policemen", "Workers" and "Workmen" could inhabit the neighborhood if imagination runs short. They would then represent more people than there actually are.

Meh. If anyone on the development team were that thin-skinned, I imagine they'd have declined to allow their names to be used in the first place.

Rumor has it that Rod Humble IS thin-skinned, and insisted that his sim be coded such that it would be nearly impossible to mess with him. What a putz.

And of course he'd have to pick a nice looking Sim, or someone did. They give us a 'gorilla' face template, and I can't think of any of the default neighbourhood townies that are named after EA staff whom have it. Male or female.

I really do wonder who Goopy was in real life? The guy must of had a sense of humour, or perhaps he is somewhere still holding a huge grudge against his parents!

"Goopy" is likely a nickname.

Mootilda- I sure hope so!
I think for males my favorite townie for Pleasantview/custom hoods is Benjamin Long. He's a cutie :3
No, not the oranges. Just a cute guy. But Cuties are delicious lol
(Do any of you even know what a Cutie is? Or is it just where I live?)

I agree, but Goopy in the game was either loved or hated in the beginning. And so I'm gathering he loved the attention his name brought, plus the clothing. I'm also guessing he had a since of humour. The parents thing I was just joking about.

But, I did wonder who he was, and how much of his personality was incorporated into the character. Or perhaps it was really a random selection. My guess though, Goopy, was not a random name, given to a random character.

That whole Maxis team worked together for a long time, they must of added some inside jokes to the original Pleasantview/default townies at least. I'm not too familiar with other neighbourhoods. So, I can see how a random generator was used, based on some of the repetitive names being used.

Didn't Benjamin Long have the pinocchio nose? That face looks fine in the female version, but the male is too sharp and bony. No, I don't know what a Cutie is.

I think the team had decided to go fully random after downtown, or at some point during its development. Because the default townies have persistent names, some but not all of the downtownies initially had good names, such as Rose Miller (I do remeber her because the name connected to the appearance), and in the expansion inbetween the two – University – they had added commentary under each character name for translators, so that they could replace it with a suitable and meaningful name.

It can't be denied that downtownies were tweaked by hand and incorporate something, which is left for the player to speculate about and discover.

Rose Miller has since combined her random and actual name and is known as Jasmyn Rose Miller-King.

I seem to recall Rod Humble defending putting the player in the (imaginary) "driver's seat" and letting them do whatever they want and then just sit back and "see what happens" (no longer driving apparently). But maybe I was mistaken, and that was another person. Once I put Rod Humble on top of my house on the roof. He fell a little but couldn't escape and I think wasn't even removed. Now I do have an urge to copy his gorilla outfit onto another person. :p

A cutie is a cute person; it's a very old usage and I don't know of any refinements to it.

No one who creates anything for public consumption can control it once it's loose in the world. A book does not mean the same thing when you read it as it did when the author wrote it. Audiences are not passive; we need them to complete the work.

Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.

I'm not on facebook, so I don't know what he looks like, or much about him, aside being a high top animator. It doesn't matter though, his alter ego is legendary. For Goopy Rossi in the game just sounds like an average Sim- well not really, but Goopy GilsCarbo, is a Sim I believe may have worked on animations for 'Blue Clue's', seeing I have had the privilage to see Goopy dance! He'd be the type to start doing the Blues Clue's dance, too bad the real Goopy didn't add that part of him into the game!

I thought that too. However, I thought there was some more deeper meaning behind the name, which is why I didn't comment until now.

I have a townie called "Carey Self" who regens pretty much everytime I delete the homeless. He obviously only cares about himself. I might check that out actually, see if the traits are relevant of if its just a silly coincidence :-p

Labrys Cheshire

I use HP's version of jordi's name mod, and I guess the seed for randomizing names got stuck when my Sim went to the paper to look for a roomie recently: two Sims named Labrys were spawned that day. Labrys Cheshire is a gorgeous gearhead with dark skin and nearly white hair. The other Labrys (last name unremembered) is a light-skinned redhead...also gorgeous, as are all my townies, since I use a mix of ridiculously lovely default face templates. I'm kind of hoping one of them will be able to marry into the playables, but female Sims brutally outnumber males at all age levels in Prosperity (baby thru teen, 51 girls v. 29 boys...it's like anti-China in my game), so there's little need to bring in the female townies.

I going through Sim PE, and enjoying my new favourite hobby-name changing! The original names I've had so far have been Jacqueline(Jaclyn) Smith, I can't remember the second one at the moment, but I now have come across a teen named Neil Armstrong! Just thought I'd share!

I have just come across a Steven King!

I have three Marylena Hamiltons, all in different roles (one's a teenager who often visits the Ying family after school, another is a papergirl and there's also a social downtownie with the name). I suspect they are not related to each other.

Using several mods, this is one example of what kind of townies I can have:

Yahei Miyoshi is an elderly townie in my Japanese themed nhood, and one I really like. Probably my favorite ever of the randomly created sims.

I was using hentaisatsuki's name replacement mod

And Phaenoh's Eugenic skins:

Don't want to post the actual names in a public forum but I've had a couple townies show up with the names of people I actually know.

Cuties are also a type of very small seedless oranges, which I think was why BeckyBoo asked if anyone knew what a cutie is. I think the people that named them named them after the word cute.

Back on topic, I use a random name replacer, I still end up with some crazy name combinations. I think my favorite was a year back when I had Brock Lee which always made me think of broccoli the vegitable. :D
