Any piece of fashion designer Steve would rock. I'm just curious to see how you envisioned him!

Okay, then. I often don't have particular looks in mind, but when you asked, I realized that Steve would be something like Joe Blomfield in Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day. (If you haven't seen that movie, I highly recommend it.) Mr. Blomfield is the top women's lingerie designer in the country, he's engaged to a tempestuous young beauty...
Is that what you were hoping for?
...and he's played by a very dignified Ciaran Hinds, who looks like this throughout.
Steve is younger, of course, but the concept's the same. I think Steve probably wears wire-rimmed glasses and doesn't take his tie off until bedtime most days, although he might leave it off entirely on the weekends...

@Esmeiolanthe Ha! I have to say, that's quite awesome. I've never met anyone else who has seen that movie. I saw it about a year ago, I wasn't expecting much of it and I was surprised at how endearing and funny it was. I like Mr. Blomfield as fashion designer Steve!

Sorry I didn't make it in on time guys. Unfortunately health problems reared their ugly heads and made it impossible for me to focus on anything, so no entry from me :-( It's a shame - the Masons were the family I was really looking forward to doing, but as it turned out leaving the family with the saddest back story 'til last was definitely a mistake - no way I could work on that at the moment. Good luck to everyone who got entries in, I look forward to seeing your scores and I've loved looking at everyone's entries throughout the contest. My Downloads folder hates you all though.... :-P

laura, even though you are officially dropping, you know how long these judges like to take. You might be able to get your house done sometime next week, I'm sure we'd all love to see it if feel up to it and are able. I had heaven reopen my contest thread so a few late entries could be added/edited just so their stories would be complete. Take care of yourself first, and after that everything is for fun and workable. Luvs!

Still waiting on scores. Sorry guys, I'm sure you're anxious to find out.
EDIT: I have most of the scores now, am still pasting them together. Still waiting on the last few from one judge, but I'm pretty confident you'll have them sometime today.
HL...we're all wondering if you were trying to sabotage yourself...as cute as the barn is, that's a LOT of added walls...even with the revamped wall scoring, it would be a 13 pt hit. Now, I've been thinking about this since you posted it, I know I don't want to dock 13 pts, as it's not affecting the living space at all. It really functions similar to the greenhouses, which are allowed, but it's real walls not the greenhouse walls. As far as I can see, it's only deco in there, and I really want to let it go, but I have to dock something to be fair. I am definitely open for opinions on this one!

Yes, that's exactly how I feel about it jones - I know I don't want to have to dock so many points for HL's barn because it IS so nice and in-keeping with the rest of the house, but at the same time the rules are the rules. I know none of us would've thought twice about it had it been greenhouse walls...
I realise that this is still a massive hit, but what about we make it a round 10 docked for the barn and let off the extra 3 because it's not affecting living space? I don't really want to dock 10 but we have to draw the line somewhere.
No need to use my full name, "Selly" will do just fine.

Maybe HL is trying to make the last round a little more of a fair race between her and the pack of people tied at number 2?

Maybe she just forgot and made the barn on autopilot, I know I did with that shower wall. No letting her off unless the rest of us get let off too.

We're not letting her off jo, it's more a case of "what DO we do about it and still be fair?". A dock of 13 points is a massive hit for something that doesn't affect living space. And I'm sorry, but putting in a shower wall on autopilot is believeable (I do it myself), but a whole barn with house-matching walls and various deco inside isn't.
And Phae, you could be right! HL is the only one who can tell us for sure!

Is the design appealing?
Judge1: 10/10 Great job decorating this house. I especially love the eclectic looking front yard. All the rooms are full of little details and look very homey looking. One small critique; I think the nursery has too much blue in it. It makes the room look a little bit boring. The pool area is also a bit crapped, but that is hard to fix in this house. I really like the color you chose for this house. The dark shade gives the small house a sense of weight.
Judge 2: 8/10 It's a nice design. The living room feels a bit overloaded with patterns though. the carpet, wall,
rug and seating are all patterned. I don't think the rug and paintings are right for the room, and I think either
a solid wall, or solid seating would have worked much better. I love the outside. The blue roof and siding
could have easily gone wrong, but with the white door and windows, light stone foundation and white garden
fencing it works well. I love the nursery as well. The master bedroom is ok, but it could be better. I don't
think the bedspread is the best with the wall paper. And the asian armoire isn't quite right either.
Judge 3: 8/10 It’s bold, it’s blue – yet strangely I like the exterior! Those white mini-walls edging the flowerbeds and driveway contrast beautifully, as do the varied greens of the landscaping.
That stove in the kitchen is awesome – it complements the wooden units and takes out some of the orange in the tiles; the dining area also ties in well whilst being an obviously separate space.
Lounge is a little too busy in my view. I love the plain orange curtains and the choice of lighting, but with the patterned carpet and suite I felt the loud rug was slightly too much.
Does the way the furniture is placed make sense and allow for good movement through the home?
Judge 1: 10/10 Good job with the furniture placement. Sims should route well though the house. The furniture placement is very naturally and interestingly. The layout makes sense. (One small issue is that you've only used 1 gate on each fence area, but since there is empty space around the gates, routing should work fairly well there.)
Judge 2: 8/10 Pretty good furniture placement, except I can't see a potty for Daniel? And the game table and chairs makes narrow pathways. Routable, just crampped.
Judge 3: 6/10 The board game and its four chairs dominate the area behind the sofa. While there probably is room to get past, the majority of traffic will go in front of said sofa and could interfere with what I’m guessing is a TV in the wooden unit. I’m not convinced about the bookcase being on the diagonal either.
The exterior stairs going straight onto a vegetable plot seems really rather strange. I can make out a gate into that area but I’d be inclined to either lose that one growing space or make the veg garden a mite wider.
I appreciate that the bathroom is small, but a bath-shower combo may have been a better choice for a family with a toddler. Also, I can’t see a potty for the little man…
Is this a home the family would like to live in?
Judge 1: 13/15 The house has a very nicely developed country style. It has a large pool area and a hammock area in the backyard and the front yard is very well developed. I think the Wilson's would like a little more backyard space though. The pool takes up almost all of it. I also would have liked to have seen more kids’ stuff throughout the house.
Judge 2: 13/15 It definitely looks like a family home, and there is plenty to do outdoors, for the adults.
Would have liked a sand box or something for Daniel until he can enjoy the other things. It has a decent
country feel, aside from the rug and paintings in the living room.
Judge 3: 12/15 Definitely country-style which works for Sarah, and there’s been attention to detail for the garden. However, while I know that Daniel will grow up (and it’s apparent there’s plenty for older children to do) there seems very little for a toddler to play with at this time. I would've liked to have seen more tot toys and possibly a little more floor space for him to crawl and eventually walk about in.

Is the design appealing?
Judge 1: 9/10 Good job decorating this house. I love the style you picked for the outside. The barn look is really interesting and you've pulled it off well. The living room is also very well arranged. The circular arrangement is interesting. However, the inside isn't perfect; some of the rooms are little empty looking. It would be nice to see more furniture or deco items. In addition, the wallpapers are bit boring. The backyard is adorable. I like how you've arranged it into different zones.
Judge 2: 9/10 I like this house a lot, inside and out. The dining room and kitchen feel a little washed out, color-wise, would have like some more bright color pops, like in the living room. The bedroom and nursery are great. I love the Americana style going on in the living room, would have liked to see it carry through a bit more into the rest of the "main" house.
Judge 3: 10/10 The red walls and grey roof and foundation look amazing together, and I love the way you combined siding and matching shingles. The autumnal colours of the garden are a nice touch.
The idea of “classic country” isn’t something I’d heard of, but using the associated colours with more traditional blinds and rugs really gives it a different spin. I love the pictures in the lounge! I also love the bed in the master bedroom, and the nursery set gives a bright contrast to the rich plum tones on the walls.
Does the way the furniture is placed make sense and allow for good movement through the home?
Judge 1: 9/10 Sims should route well through the house. The layout of the rooms is logical. The furniture placement is fairly nice. However, some of the rooms look a little empty (like the living room and nursery.)
Judge 2: 9/10 I think a shower/tub combo would have opened up the bathroom a bit more. Bu totherwise, nice and open. Also, they toys on the coffee table are cute (and realistic of a toddler home, though in my home they'd be more likely right where I'd trip over them, lol) but will Daniel throw a tantrum if he wants to play with them? I know he has others in his room, but I was just wondering if he would still try to use these.
Judge 3: 8/10 Mostly fine – I can’t see any serious traffic problems except possibly in the bathroom. I'd've been more inclined to use a bath/shower combination than two separate items. My only other concern is that there are only two chairs by the outside table – three may be better.
Is this a home the family would like to live in?
Judge 1: 14/15 The house had a developed country style. The yard is really terrific. There is a good amount of kids’ stuff inside the house, but I would have like to have seen a little more. The nursery could have been a little more developed.
Judge 2: 14/15 Nice country home that I'm sure Sarah loves. The yard is nice, and has stuff for Daniel to do now, and when he's older. There are a few things here and there that suggest that it's a family home, but I really would have liked more "family pictures". I do like that they have hung the wedding momento.
Judge 3: 14/15 Plenty of landscaping fit for a family who like to spend time outside, with amusement for all. I do feel that Daniel should be able to play without needing help from Tom or Sarah though – I only spy two toys in the entire house that he can access alone, both in his room. I thought having the xylophone on the coffee table was a mite strange.

32/45 The barn. 9 extra walls. I really hate to do it, but you, of all people, should have seen this coming. It was your wall editing last round that made me reconfigure the scoring. This round would have been better off the old way (losing 3 from each judge) but I've got to stick to the rules
Is the design appealing?
Judge 1: 8/10 You did a nice job creating a sense of style of this house. The breezy, cozy, country style is charming and distinct. The furniture is arranged nicely and there are a lot of nice details throughout the house. I really love the way you've arranged the play area in the backyard (it looks very lived in and natural) and the dining room area is very well balanced. I like how you've added architectural interest by using siding with molding on it. I also like how full and lush your front yard is. However, I think there is some room for improvement on the outside of the house. The front windows are cut off by the roof, and the siding is very pastel looking, yet the roof and flowers are darker, so they don’t match the breezy look of the rest of the house. I also think that some of the colors inside the house don’t work well together. For example, the bedspread and wallpaper in the master bedroom. In addition, I think the flower boxes in the living room look like outdoor planters. The nautical theme in the nursery is a very cute touch.
Judge 2: 8/10 The landscaping is beautiful! (Though I'm curious as to what that tree with the yellow hangy things is...) The nursery is adorable. The bedroom is nice, but a picture or border to break up the blue wall would have been nice. I can't decide if I think the rug and quilt might be too much together, but I think it might just work (wink). The style of the coffee table in the living roon, doesn't quite seem to go with the rest of the furniture. It feels a bit modern, being so blocky and "heavy".
Judge 3: 8/10 I love the rounded corners on the flowerbeds! The back garden is well thought out; that kids’ play area is fun – the little ride-on dragon is super-cute.
I’m not overly keen with the wooden floor throughout the house – understandable in the kitchen and dining room, but I prefer carpets in bedrooms. In addition, the blue wall in the master bedroom could’ve done with something to break it up – a picture or small shelf maybe.
The sailing theme in the nursery is adorable with the blanket overhanging the crib and the matching rug – I also like the Elmo toy on the chest of drawers.
Does the way the furniture is placed make sense and allow for good movement through the home?
Judge 1: 7/10 Sim routing should work well in most places. However, the kitchen only has a 1 tile entry, which will causes routing jams. The layout is logical and the furniture placement is fairly nice. However, some of the furniture looks too lined up on the grid or against walls (like in the nursery.)
Judge 2: 10/10
Judge 3: 9/10 I love the little extras for the toddler – the booster seat at the dining table and the rocking horse. That said, I would've liked to have seen one toy in the lounge (or am I just missing what’s there?)
Is this a home the family would like to live in?
Judge 1: 14/15 The house has a consistent country style. The yard is nice (I love that you fenced in the pool—very kid friendly.) Daniel’s room looks like a lot of fun. I would have liked to have seen a little more family stuff throughout the house.
Judge 2: 14/15 It's a nice country home. I would have loved some family pictures and a toy or two in the living room. The yard is wonderful for an outdoor loving family.
Judge 3: 15/15 I think the Wilsons will be very happy here.

Is the design appealing?
Judge 1: 8/10 You did a nice job refacing this house. The siding, roof and windows go well together and work well on this house. The diagonal siding for the roof area was a really great choice. It adds interests without overwhelming the house. I especially like the tall open looking windows you've used, as they help open the small bungalow up. The interior furniture is arranged nicely and there a lot of nice deco items. However, I think there a few things that could be improved. I think the fencing and landscaping block the house and make it looked closed off. I also think that many of the rooms look too monochromatic, and some of the furniture clashes in style (for example, the built in booths in the dining room don’t match the general style of this house. I love the color scheme in the bathroom. It’s very upbeat and playful looking.
Judge 2: 8/10 First things first...WCIF the ViewMaster!!!! Elise's room is phenominal! It's soooooooo lived in. It's cluttered and eclectic, just like a real little girl's room (although a bit too clean if it had been mine, lol). It's my favorite room of the entires contest. I just can't say enough how much I absolutely love it. Now on to the rest (since I must). The outside is very washed out. All white and grey. Even just flowering bushes would have helped bring a bit of color. The built in booth is interesting, And those are my favorite half-walls (wink). Bill's room is nice, but maybe a bit dark. A cream colored rug would have helped tons. It's very nice, just dark.
Judge 3: 8/10 Love the purple panelling in Elise’s room – very bright and cheerful with all the other child aspects. The transparent shelves on the tree mural are a nice touch too. I also like the way the purple theme continued into the kitchen and lounge, but in a more understated fashion. The kiddie area in the lounge is cute. I just feel that the bathroom is a little bare in comparison to the rest of the house. The vertical siding on the exterior is lovely, but I think the diagonal sections on the roof gables look strange as a contrast. Vertical in a different colour or same colour but horizontal would work better.
Does the way the furniture is placed make sense and allow for good movement through the home?
Judge 1: 7/10 Sim routing should work well through most of the house. However, the kitchen only has a 1 tile entry, which will cause problems and the chess set in the patio looks like it will cause problems, since a sim getting out of a chair will be blocked in if a another sim is using the 1 tile passage. The room layouts are logical. The furniture is placed fairly well. However, many of the rooms look a little empty and the furniture looks very lined up against the walls.
Judge 2: 9/10 Are there lights in the kitchen and bathroom?
Judge 3: 9/10 That dining nook with the booth seats is a great idea, and putting the sofa and dog bed back-to-back is inspired. While I love the idea of desks adjacent to one another, a sim trying to get up from the computer might complain about the other chair being in the way.
Is this a home the family would like to live in?
Judge 1: 15/15 Good job. The house looks very casual and lived in. Elise’s room is decorated to her taste. I can see the family’s personality and history in the house.
Judge 2: 14/15 I've already gone on and on about Elise's room, so I wont do it again, but fantastic. There are family photos throughout and the whole hoouse has a very lived in family vibe. The only thing I think would make it better is a slightly more developed yard.
Judge 3: 14/15 Love the family photos scattered throughout, and the landscaping at the front of the house is great. However I would've liked to have seen a shot of the back garden – it’s hard to judge from just the overhead photo.

Is the design appealing?
Judge 1: 7/10 I love your story about Bill just buying a furniture set because he doesn't know how to decorate. It’s an interesting challenge you've created to try to decorate with a formulaic style, but still keep it interesting. The house looks very calm, yet sunny and cheerful, which I like a lot. Some of the spaces are very interesting looking as well (like the little dryer area.) However, I think the furniture placement could be improved. The rooms look a little empty and the furniture looks like it was placed rigidly on the grid. You seem to be working with a nice clean modern style for this house, which I like. However, this style isn't used consistently throughout the house. For example, the couch and bookshelf don’t match this style. I also think the front of the house looks too simple. Elise's room has a lot of personality. It looks like a purple explosion, which definitely gives the room a kids’ room feel. And, there are also a lot of nice details. I especially like the stuffed animal on the head of her bed.
Judge 2: 9/10 Wow, that siding is bright. I think a dustier lavender would have looked a bit better. And I think the foundation should have been white or cream, the red brick with the bright purple, doesn't really go.
Judge 3: 9/10 Not sure about the pink siding (I know you said purple but it looks pink to me) on the exterior, it’s a little bright for my liking. However the interior makes up for it – the addition of a kid’s painting taped to the fridge door is cute, and I love the way Elise’s love of purple extends out from her room onto the kitchen blinds and clock. It stops the more greyscale colour scheme from looking austere. Good job. As for Elise’s bedroom, wow! Purple butterflies on a white background really makes them stand out, and the other items keep it from being a little too bold.
Does the way the furniture is placed make sense and allow for good movement through the home?
Judge 1: 6/10 In most of the house, the layout of the rooms mostly makes sense. However, placing the living room in the small back area is a bit strange. There are also a couple of sim routing problems. Several dining room chairs are blocked in and can’t be used. Also, the placement of the bookshelf leaves only a 1 tile entry into the living room. The kitchen also only has 1 tile passage. This is hard to avoid in this house, but the strip is 4 tiles long. Bill’s room only has a 1 person bed, which is strange for an adult.
Judge 2: 9/10 I understand that the chair set up works 90% of the time, but there's still that 10%, so had to take 1 pt for those rude sims.
Judge 3: 8/10 Thanks for the heads-up regarding the dining table and chair locations, I was wondering whether they were all accessible. I love that you moved the kitchen and made that narrow space into a small lounge area. I appreciate that the bathroom is tiny, but sometimes having a toilet right next to the doors can cause problems.
Is this a home the family would like to live in?
Judge 1: 12/15 Most of the house looks fairly cozy looking. However, I think in some areas (like the kitchen) it looks a little sterile. Elise should like her room, as it is decorated to her taste. I get a reasonable feel for the family’s personality and history from the house.
Judge 2: 13/15 The house is fairly homey, but it could have been a bit more so. All the white, especially in the kitchen, make it a little harsh. Something as simple as a woodtone for the counter tops would have helped, as it is the kitchen is a bit institutional and not very homey. But I do love the fridge art. I love that you have Ann's work up around the house, but there could have been more family photos. You've given Elise a very nice room.
Judge 3: 14/15 Mostly great – there’s obviously enough space for a family of two, and I like that you added some photos that had been taken by Ann. Do I spy a shot of father and daughter as well, or is that my imagination? I don’t see anywhere for Elise to do homework though…

Judge 1: 10/10 Great job decorating this house. The furniture is placed really well. The rooms look like showrooms, yet also look natural. The outside is looks very open for this house design. I especially like your choice of windows. The long windows really balance the bungalow shape of this house. One small critique though; I think the large bush in front of the front window should be moved.
Judge 2: 10/10 Another beautiful home. It's contemporary, but still very warm and homey. Some nice little "lived-in" touches, like the shoes. I think in at least 90% of my homes I use the Annie (wink) It's so versitile and timeless. It works very well here, especially with the color and pillows you chose. My one "complaint" is I think the curtains in Elise's room don't quite go and are a bit busy with the rest of the room. I would have prefered a solid or very faint stripe maybe. I love that I'm pretty sure there's a radio in the kitchen. I have one there myself (wink).
Judge 3: 9/10 Cute kitchen and adjoining lounge areas – I love the warm tangerine accents, and the way the units have been placed breaks the space up nicely. The various items of footwear all lined up made me laugh. Bill’s bedroom is definitively gender-neutral, and I love the pictures over the bed. Elise’s room is possibly a tad too bright – I love the bold purple of the butterflies on her wall and the butterfly bedspread, but I think the curtains should've been darker in colour. Maybe a plain lilac to match the carpet would've been better.
Does the way the furniture is placed make sense and allow for good movement through the home?
Judge 1: 7/10 The furniture is arranged very attractively. The room layouts make sense. Most of the sim routing should work well in the house. However, there is one major problem; the back door is blocked by the easel and canvas deco item. In addition, the tiny patio is very full and will probably cause major traffic issues for sims trying to sit at the table or use the barbeque.
Judge 2: 9/10 With the easel and canvases by the back door it's very tight to exit there.
Judge 3: 9/10 On the whole, it’s fine. I think that the dining table being off-centre feels a little odd, but that’s my only criticism. There’s still plenty of space and it’s apparent that all chairs are accessible.
Is this a home the family would like to live in?
Judge 1: 15/15 Good job. The house looks cozy and lived in. (Good job balancing the modern style with a more cozy feel.) Elise’s room is decorated to her taste. I love how you implemented Elise’s childish desires without going over board and making the room too loud. The house gives a sense of the family’s history.
Judge 2: 14/15 It's beautifully decorated with so many little peices of clutter, but so natural that it doesn't feel overly decorated (since Bill isn't much of a decorater). All the wonderful clutter just gives it that homey, "lived-in" feel. Wonderful family pictures throughout. Elise's room could have used a smidge more purple.
Judge 3: 14/15 Lovely use of family photos around the house – I rather like your “family tree”. I just feel that there could've been a mite more purple in Elise’s room

Judge 1: 9/10 Good job decorating this house. The inside is really lovely. I love the cozy country look you've developed. You've also packed a lot of nice little details into the rooms (like the pillows on the dining chairs.) I especially like the wall covering you've used. It’s different and adds a nice decorative, yet rustic look to the house. The outside of the house is nice. It looks very cozy. However, I think there is some room for improvement. I think the siding and windows emphasize the long horizontal lines of the house, and make the house look a bit awkward. The landscaping is also a little too regular looking. Although, I do love how lush and full it looks.
Judge 2: 9/10 A wonderfully cozy, country home. It's very charming. I'll get my one complaint out of the way...the bathroom is a bit odd to me. The wall and tub feel very modern, but the sink and mirror are very country. But that's really my only complaint, and it's a small one. It's so beautifully decorated and very warm and inviting. I myself would love to live there (though we wouldn't all fit, lol). Daniel's room is adorable. I love his name on the wall. Ok, just realized I have one more very small complaint. I've always thought those Badger pics were creepy, so I could have done without it (wink). The landscaping is beautiful .
Judge 3: 9/10 A very “natural” theme throughout – country style without being traditional. I like it. The deep blue curtains in the lounge along with the cushions give it a needed accent and those strewn blocks next to the toy box are wonderful. The bold rugs tie the lounge and dining areas together even though they’re obviously separate. I adore those metallic letters on the wall in the nursery, they work so well with the general décor. That little cassette player is cute too. I’m not a lover of floorboards in bedrooms, but they do work well with the rug and the bed linen. The exterior is bold without being overwhelming. Good job.
Does the way the furniture is placed make sense and allow for good movement through the home?
Judge 1: 7/10 The furniture is arranged very attractively. The room layout makes sense. However, the house seems like it will cause a lot of sim routing headaches, as there are a lot of 1 tile only passages. There is only 1 tile passage between the living room and kitchen. The kitchen is only 1 tile wide (although you have kept the length short, and I know this is hard to avoid) and there is only 1 passage through the dining room.
Judge 2: 8/10 It's so cozy, but that sacrifices paths a bit. Nothing unroutable, just some tight spaces. And I don't see a potty for Daniel.
Judge 3: 9/10 I like the way the bathroom is laid out, but if a sim comes to the toilet from the nursery there could be issues with the door.
Is this a home the family would like to live in?
Judge 1: 13/15 Very nicely developed country style. The yard is very nice, but there aren't a lot of activities in it. The nursery is very fun looking and there are a few kid items throughout the house.
Judge 2: 13/15 It's such a warm and cozy family home. Lots of little "lived-in" touches. Obviously the home of a toddler. Would have liked some family photos ( no that creep badger family photo doesn't count, lol). The back yard may be nicely developed, but I can't really see it. I see the corner of a sandbox, a grill, a couple chairs and an arbor. Is there a table further out the stone area? As the love of outdoors is a big part of this family I REALLY would have liked an individual pic of the back yard.
Judge 3: 14/15 I’m pleased to see a bathtub, toddlers get very dirty and they should! However, I can’t see a potty…It seems like there’ll be many happy hours spent outside, though where will Daniel sit when he grows up?

Is the design appealing?
Judge 1: 7/10 I like the way you've arranged the furniture in this house. The groupings look both interesting and natural and there are a lot of nice little decorative items, which gives the house a lived in feel. There is also a fairly consistent casual, slightly country style used throughout the house, which is nice. However, some of the items look more formal than others, so they don’t match perfectly. I think there is some room for improvement in a few places. I think the house has too much yellow (including the yellowish wood items and floor.) It would be nice if it had more variety in the color scheme. I also think the weathered brick in the kitchen looks a bit strange, and the landscaping looks a bit rigid and unnatural looking (although I love how full the yard is. The landscaping just need to be rearranged a bit.) The play tower area in the backyard is very cute.
Judge 2: 7/10 It's a cozy, "live-in" house. The landscaping is lovely. The brick in the kitchen is a bit too dark in such a small space. A white or cream brick might have worked, but this one seems to make it feel even smaller. I'm not overly fond of the rug in the kitchen (a bit to bright, a softer tone, like the curtains would have been better) or the rug under the table (I think it doesn't go well with the rest of the room). But it does have a nice country theme.
Judge 3: 7/10 The yellow exterior walls are nice, but they don’t seem to quite fit with the stone foundation. However, I do like the landscaping – the paths and flowerbeds edged with wood give them definition. Inside, I’m not overly keen with the wallpaper choice in the lounge. With the wooden floor being such a similar colour it feels strange at the transition between the two. One with a skirting board might be better. I like the brick in the kitchen, but not on all walls. It’s too small a space for that to work well. I do like the pans over the stove and the blinds on the windows though! The only other thing is that I’m not keen on floorboards in the bedrooms. I like that you used white ones in the nursery, but carpets make some rooms feel that bit warmer.
Does the way the furniture is placed make sense and allow for good movement through the home?
Judge 1: 7/10 Sims should route well through most of the house. However, the placement of the chairs in the tiny patio looks like it will cause problems. (Also, the kitchen only has a 1 tile passage, but I think you did as well as possible with the tiny space.) The furniture arrangements looks a little unnatural and very lined up looking (like the arraignment of the living room and dining room areas.) The room layouts are logical.
Judge 2: 8/10 The coffee table is extremely close to the couch. And I don't see the need for the second TV on the wall by the stove.
Judge 3: 8/10 The lounge in general feels odd; there’s space round each set of objects, but each set is rather regimented. The sofa and coffee table are extremely close together, can sims sit down there? Also I’m confused about there being two TVs in the same room…
Is this a home the family would like to live in?
Judge 1: 13/15 The house has a fairly consistent country style, but I think there are a few spots that don’t work (like the brick wall covering.) The yard is well developed and so is the nursery. I would have liked to have seen a few more kid items throughout the house.
Judge 2: 13/15 The yard is great for the Wilsons. But I think the inside could use a bit more family wise. No toys other than the nursery and barely any family photos.
Judge 3: 14/15 Lovely landscaping – the Wilsons will spend many happy hours outside. However, I would've liked to have seen one or two toys in the lounge – it’s set up for adults but not so much for children

Is the design appealing?
Judge 1: 8/10 I love how much personality this decorating job has. You really went above and beyond to give the house a family friendly feel. The nursery is especially nice (it looks very magical) and the playpen in the living room is very creative. The front of the house is fairly nice. I like the slight Victorian look you've created. However, I think the façade could look more unified. The foundation is visually cut off from the rest of the house, and the house looks a bit top heavy. I really like the greenhouse. It’s cute and goes well with this house.
Judge 2: 9/10 It's a nice country style, there's just one minor thing I don't care for, the blue brick on the half wall. I just don't think it goes well. I love the gingerbread on the exterior (and Sarah's Beetle, well, I assume it's hers. But maybe the truck is hers and Tom drives the beetle. Though the mommy in me must say that Sarah would hate having a two door car with a toddler in a carseat, lol) The back yard is amazing as is the nursery. The nursery is a bit of a hodge podge, decor wise, but I think that just makes it more realistic for a childs tastes.
Judge 3: 9/10 I love the green curtains with that wallpaper – they go really well together, and using a very similar shade (I hesitate to use the word “match”) on the sofa ties the furniture in too. I approve of the playpen – there’s plenty for Daniel to do in there, as well as keeping him out of the potentially dangerous kitchen! I’m not convinced about the little shelf in said kitchen, simply because there’s more than enough prep space already…
That nursery is truly spectacular – a toddler paradise with all those toys and a bed he can get in and out of all by himself. Personally I’d think those curtains were too frilly for a boy but you’ve proved me wrong! The bold animal pictures on the wall are super-adorable too.
Does the way the furniture is placed make sense and allow for good movement through the home?
Judge 1: 7/10 The furniture is arranged nicely through most of the house and the room layouts make sense. However, the playpen takes up a lot of the living room. Sim routing might be a little awkward in this house. There is only a 1 title passage into the kitchen because of the placement of the bar. The back door is very closed in by the table and the item near the door. The playpen also creates a 1 tile entry from the front door (although sims can back up into an open area) and the playpen also blocks off the bookcase.
Judge 2: 9/10 The play pen makes getting to the bookshelf a little difficult. And even though Daniel is potty trained, I don't see one, though there is one corner of the bathroom I can't see.
Judge 3: 9/10 I know you said that Daniel completed potty-training, but I can’t actually SEE a potty anywhere – is it in that gap behind the bathtub?
Is this a home the family would like to live in?
Judge 1: 14/15 Very family friendly home. I especially love the playpen area. The yard is well developed. I think the style is kind of country looking, but not completely. It’s a bit modern or Victorian in some places.
Judge 2: 15/15 I think it's perfect for the Wilsons. It's very much a family home, full of family pictures and toys. The yard is perfect for an outdoor lobing family.
Judge 3: 15/15 Going by the brief given, I would say this could be a perfect family home for the Wilsons.

Is the design appealing?
Judge 1: 7/10 I really like that you've selected a pattern or theme in every room to play off of. I especially like the bear motif in the nursery. I also like all the little decorative touches you've added. However, I think the interior is too busy looking. (For example, I think the brick wall in the living room should be removed.) There is a lot competing for my attention, and many of the rooms are decorated in mostly one color, which adds to the overly busy feel of the house. For example, the kitchen is very bright green. The front of the house is fairly nice. I think the windows, brick and roof you've picked go well together. Although, I’m not sure a brick façade works on the bungalow shaped house. I like the sandbox in the backyard. It’s very cute.
Judge 2: 6/10 I like the brick on the outside, but there maybe too much of it. I think a stucco on the "roof walls" would have broken it up a bit. The living room is nice, but I think the fireplace you chose doesn't fit very wel style-wise. Not sure I care for the brick wall here, I like the idea of that being an accent wall, but I think a different brick or stone may have worked better. I like the side table/cabinets you've created in the bedroom. I think the style of the bed, however, isn't right for this room. It feels modern or almost asian. I love the rooster tile in the kitchen and the stove, but there's a bit too much green. A different coutertop probably would have done the trick. The bathroom is lovely/ The nursery is very cute, but maybe a little too blue. All white furniture and a non blue carptet would have helped.
Judge 3: 5/10 I like the range in the kitchen – very fitting with the country-style theme, but I’m not keen on the green countertops; in my mind going with black granite to complement the stove top may have been a wiser choice. I also think that using a different style of door would've been better than the green one you chose – it looks slightly out of place as it is. I like the lounge curtains, but the rest feels bare; not homely at all. Nursery feels a bit too blue with wallpaper, curtains and flooring as well as on the furniture. It needs more of another colour to balance it out. Nice job in the bathroom though, I love that!
Does the way the furniture is placed make sense and allow for good movement through the home?
Judge 1: 7/10 Sims should route well through the house. I think the furniture arrangements could be improved. The rooms are somewhat empty looking and the arrangements look a little unnatural. The room layouts make sense.
Judge 2: 9/10 While I like the look of the half wall, it does make the dining area a bit snug.
Judge 3: 8/10 I’m not sure about the position of that half-wall dividing the lounge and dining area, making people walk diagonally across the lounge from the front door doesn't work for me. There’s obviously enough space for sims to get past the dining table and chairs though.
I’m glad you shifted the toddler toy in the nursery between taking the overhead and room shots – from overhead it looks like it might block the door but it’s apparent from the room shot that it won’t.u
Is this a home the family would like to live in?
Judge 1: 11/15 The house isn't decorated in a very country looking style, but it’s not completely un-country looking. The yard has several activities in it. I do think it could have been developed a little more. It’s a little bare and scattered looking. The nursery is well developed, but I would have liked to have seen more of a family feel in the house.
Judge 2: 12/15 There is plenty for them to do outside (love the sundaes) but what about inclement weather? There really isn't much to do inside. I'm ok with no TV, but there's not even a bookcase or radio. Also there could be a toy or two for Daniel other than in the nursery. And I'd love some family photos.
Judge 3: 11/15 For a house that’s obviously geared up for a toddler, I would've expected more toys inside the house. The garden play area is well-provisioned, but I only see toys in the nursery (and only one easily reachable plus the toy box there). Maybe Daniel could have something in the lounge?
Also, what would the family do for entertainment besides have BBQs/playing football? There’s virtually nothing inside – no books, TV or even a stereo. I know they like to be outside, but even nature-lovers have to take shelter at times!

Is the design appealing?
Judge 1: 7/10 I really like the red siding on this house. It creates a soft feel and complements the bungalow style nicely. I think the white siding looks a bit awkward with the red siding though. The colors clash a bit, and I think it divides the house awkwardly. The interior of this house also has a nice warm feel, and the style of the furniture is the same throughout the house, which is nice. However, I think many of the rooms are a little boring. Some of the items seem to be placed randomly (like the desk,) and the rooms look a bit empty. The color combinations are a bit boring as well. I like how you've worked with the narrow kitchen. You've accentuated the narrow strip, without overwhelming the small space.
Judge 2: 7/10 I like the tone of red you chose for the siding, it's not overly bright, very nice. The main room is a bit dark, I think white or cream curtains would have helped it a lot. They have a very nice yard with a lot to do. The nursery is cute. I think I would have prefered light wood furniture, it's almost too light with the walls, but still very cute. The master bedroom is a bit bare, decor wise. Again, some curtains would have helped.
Judge 3: 7/10 With the brown paint on the walls and the wooden window-frames, having so much wooden furniture in the lounge/dining room feels a bit much – simply softening the windows with white or cream curtains would make a difference. I love the large aquarium though!
I love the “trucker” nursery, so simple yet so cute. The blackboard seems a bit high on the wall for a toddler though.
Simple master bedroom and I like the oars above the bed; souvenir from kayaking were they? I do think there is very little else in there though.
Does the way the furniture is placed make sense and allow for good movement through the home?
Judge 1: 6/10 Sim routing should work well. However, I think the furniture arrangement and general layout of some areas could be improved. The rooms look a little empty and the furniture seems to be arrangement in a rigid grid pattern (especially the backyard layout.) The desk in the middle of the living room also looks a little strange. The choice of which rooms to place in what parts of the house is logical and works well.
Judge 2: 8/10 The line of furniture created by the table, desk and coffee table looks a little "stiff", not natural. I think the desk being there is a bit odd in the first placeperhaps you could have switched it with the tank, and used the tank as a sort of room divider.
Judge 3: 8/10 The lounge looks regimented with the furniture positioned the way it is; simply turning the table through 90° and shifting the chairs accordingly would break that feeling immediately.
The toddler table is only accessible on two sides, there could be a lot of whinging from Daniel if it’s not kept tidy on a regular basis.
Is this a home the family would like to live in?
Judge 1: 11/15 While the outside of the house looks countrish, and there are some country items inside, the interior doesn't look very country to me. The yard has a lot of fun activities in it. However, I think it could have been decorated a little more. The house looks fairly family friendly.
Judge 2: 12/15 They would certainly love the yard. Daniel has his sand pit and (I think) kiddie pool, and more stuff to grow into. The exterior looks very country, but not so much on the inside. The master bedroom feels country and even the kitchen is fairly country, but the living room isn't really country other than the antlers. The thing that really makes it un'country for me is the lighting. Those are very modern looking fixtures. There isn't much for them to do inside either. Daniel has toys in his room, but would have liked some in the living room too. There is clutter for cfarting, but sims can't really do anything other than look at it. There isn't even a bookcase or easel. There also are no family photos.
Judge 3: 13/15 Outside, it seems that the family has almost everything they could want. Now I’m aware Daniel will grow up, but he only appears to have the sandpit to play in for now.
Inside, there’s a couple of toys for Daniel plus his toy box, but there’s not a great deal for him to look at. A couple more wall embellishments would help with that. I’m liking the arty stuff in the lounge, but aside from Sarah cooking there’s not much for adults to do indoors. No bookcase, TV or stereo.

Is the design appealing?
Judge 1: 8/10 I like the country cabin style you've used in this house. The outside of the house looks like it could be placed in the middle of a woods, which is charming. I especially like the pathways you placed around the house. They add a lot of charm and interest. The furniture is arranged nicely and there are a lot of nice deco details in the rooms (like the bedspread on the wall of the master bedroom). However, I think the downside to this style is that it can look a little boring, and I would have liked to have seen a bit more variety in some of the decor. For example, many of the rooms are decorated in only 1 color, which is a bit boring. Also, the front of the house could use a few more extra details. I like the greenhouse you've added to the backyard.
Judge 2: 8/10 It's a very cute country home. The living room and dining area are nice, but it think the "built-in" in the dinig room and the desk in the living room maybe shouldn't be green. It makes it just a tad too much green for me. The kitchen is super cute, and the light color make it feel more open.
Judge 3: 8/10 Wow, that’s an interesting choice of ceiling! To me it makes the rooms feel a little smaller though – I’m not sure I like it. I do like the brown and green theme in the lounge, and the addition of the cream sofa and armchair is enough of an accent. The colours going through into the dining room gives a country feel, and the neutral pet bed is in keeping with the style.
The kitchen is gorgeous – the lighter tones make that tiny area feel bigger, and I like the green mugs hanging from their rack. I’m not so sure about the green back door though.
That bright bedspread and wall hanging were the right choices in the master bedroom – without those it would’ve been far too brown. However, I’m not so keen on having just floorboards in there.
Does the way the furniture is placed make sense and allow for good movement through the home?
Judge 1: 8/10 Sim routing should work well through most of the house. The kitchen only has a 1 tile passage, which will probably cause problems; however, that is hard to avoid in this house. The room placement is logical and the furniture arrangement is fairly nice. However, I think too much of the furniture is placed against walls. This makes the layout look a bit grid-like and unnatural. The floor plan is quite open for a house this small.
Judge 2: 9/10 A family with a toddler (and a dog) really need a tub.
Judge 3: 9/10 I would've preferred to see a bath/shower combination than just a shower. Toddlers need bathtubs for their “warm water play”, as do dogs!
Is this a home the family would like to live in?
Judge 1: 13/15 The house is mostly decorated in country style. However, there are a few items that don’t match (like the living room couch, which looks modern.) The yard is well developed. The nursery is nice, but I would have liked to have seen more kid activities throughout the house.
Judge 2: 13/15 A cozy home with a nice yard. Nice country style, Sarah would love. Would have liked more toys for Daniel int he rest of the house, besides just the nursery. Also no family pics.
Judge 3: 14/15 Aside from the lack of bathtub mentioned previously, the house feels like a family home. I love the sandpit in the back garden, but there doesn't seem to be many toys for Daniel inside. Maybe he could have a special item kept in the lounge?

Is the design appealing?
Judge 1: 7/10 I like how you’ve created a big open room in the kitchen and living room. The counter area makes a nice back drop for the living room space, and it’s very open looking. You also did a great job varying the counters in the kitchen so it looks more interesting. However, I think the couch should be moved or turned so the living room area is more defined. The front of the house is interesting, but I think it looks a bit awkward. The red brick on the window looks unnatural and divides the house up into very contrasting sections, which looks strange. I also think that many of the room are too monochromatic. I love the wallpaper in the nursery. It’s very cute.
Judge 2: 8/10 The yard is great. I love Daniel's area, with his little awning. There's a very nice and consistant country theme throughout. The nursery is very cute, though I think plain rugs may have went better with such a busy (but adorable) wall. The house is very nicely cluttered for that homey, "lived-in" feeling.
Judge 3: 8/10 Cute garden – I love the kiddie sandpit with various toys in it, as well as the planting area. The family will definitely want to spend time outside. I’m guessing Sarah had a say in the bathroom décor, I can’t imagine Tom choosing pink. It is nice though, and well thought out.
That nursery set is adorable, and I love the lion wallpaper, but I do feel that it’s a little too busy with both those and the patterns on the rugs. I’m also not keen on floorboards in bedrooms.
Very interesting use of space in the lounge-kitchen. There’s nothing inherently wrong with it; the whitewashed floorboards work beautifully with the walls, but I would’ve liked an obvious transition between the two, even if all it took was a different type of floor.
Does the way the furniture is placed make sense and allow for good movement through the home?
Judge 1: 8/10 Sim routing should work well. The floor plan is very open for a house this small. The furniture arrangement looks fairy nice. However, I think the position of the couch is awkward. The main room might look more natural if there was a more defined living room area. In addition, the furniture is placed a little too much in a grid pattern and against walls. The room placement is logical.
Judge 2: 9/10 I feel the couch area is a tad too close to the kitchen, You could have put the coat rack in the angled area, beside the door, and moved the living area one tile further from the kitchen.
Judge 3: 9/10 Aside from some areas (lounge and nursery) feeling a little bare, it’s immediately apparent that there’s plenty of space to move around.
Is this a home the family would like to live in?
Judge 1: 12/15 The interior has a consistent country style. However, the exterior doesn't really look countrish to me. The yard has several fun activities, which is great. However, I think it could be decorated a little more. The nursery is well developed. However, I would have liked to have seen more kids’ stuff throughout the house.
Judge 2: 13/15 It has a wonderful country style and a lovely yard. There is plenty for Daniel to do outside. Inside, however, he has a toy box in his room, and that's it. A toy or two in the living area would have been nice. Also no family pictures.
Judge 3: 14/15 I’d like to see one or two toys for Daniel inside the house, maybe in the lounge so Sarah can keep an eye on him while cooking dinner, and in the nursery. He doesn't seem to have any apart from in the garden.

Is the design appealing?
Judge 1: 7/10 I love how you've arranged the kitchen area. The slanted counters really add a lot of interest to the space. I also like the master bedroom. It looks very lush and cozy. I think the front of the house could be improved. The dark siding makes the house look gloomy and makes this small house look even smaller. I also think that the different siding in the window area divides the house up in an awkward way. You created a consistent fancy, traditional style throughout the house, which is nice. However, I think some of the rooms look a bit cluttered (like the bathroom) while others look a bit empty (like the living room.) I really like how the dining room chairs go with the little dining table. It’s a nice combination.
Judge 2: 9/10 I love that you put the end of the slide in the sand box! The curtains in the living room are a bit too formal, kind of regal. Also I don't like that the windows disappear into the ceiling...Also, two perdsonal taste things that I'm not deductiong for. Those creepy badger family pictures (I've always hated them) and I don't care for reflective flooring either. But again, I didn't dock for those, because they look nice with the home, just not my taste.
Judge 3: 9/10 That elephant slide is super-cute! I can just see Daniel playing on that. The garden in general is beautiful, but do the adults have anywhere to sit down if they like, or do they prefer to sit on the lawn? I wouldn't normally say that three patterns would work, but you've proved me wrong in the master bedroom! Nice job in there, that super-thick-looking bedspread looks all set for cozy winter nights.
I adore that nursery – that’s definitely a room which will grow with the child. Nice one.
The reflective flooring in the lounge and kitchen is neatly toned down with the addition of the rugs.

Judge 1: 6/10 Sim routing should work well through a lot of the house. However, there are two 1 tile passages that will probably cause problems. The front entry and the entry into the study are only 1 tile wide and the front entry requires sims to turn from a 1 tile strip into another 1 tile strip. Most of the room placements make sense, but the placement of the kitchen is a bit unusual. I do like how you've used the bay window in the kitchen. However, it is a little strange to step right into a kitchen from the front door. The kitchen counter placement is very nice. However a lot of the furniture in this house is a little too lined up against the walls.
Judge 2: 9/10 I love where you've put the kitchen, but with that coffee table where it is it makes for a tight squeeze. Everything is routable, just a bit tight.
Judge 3: 9/10 I love the fact you mentioned that everything is accessible, but I do have one tiny concern – the bathroom door from the bedroom can block the toilet when sims enter through it. Simply hanging the door from the other side would solve that.
Is this a home the family would like to live in?
Judge 1: 12/15 Some of the house looks like it was decorated in a country style (like the kitchen and master bedroom) and some doesn't (like the living room.) The yard has several fun activities in it, but the landscaping is a little boring. The house looks fairly family friendly.
Judge 2: 13/15 It has a decent country style, if a little formal on some areas, like the living room. The yard is nice, but could have been better. I can't see any sort of outdoor seating. Would have liked a few more toys in the house, other than the nursery.
Judge 3: 14/15 I love what you've done with the place – it’s certainly geared up for a couple and a young child, and there’s a definite country feel. Only two chairs at the dining room thus far, but there’s space to add another once Daniel grows up.

Judge 1: 7/10 The interior of the house is interesting. I like how you've used repeating patterns in living room and dining room. I also like that you've arranged the kitchen and living room into a great room. It makes the house look more open. However, I think the furniture looks a little crammed together. It might look better if it was more space out. Also, I think the master bedroom has too much red and the dining room and nursery have too much blue. I like how you've divided the outside of the house into sections with different wall coverings. I think you've picked the best sections to contrast. Making the entire area under the triangle roof one section makes the transition very natural looking. However, I think these specific wall coverings don’t work. The brick wall covering looks out of place on this shape of house and the concrete-brick pattern is a bit overwhelming. It interesting that you picked a Moroccan style for the master bedroom. I like how it looks different from the style of the rest of the house, but doesn't clash with it.
Judge 2: 8/10 It's a cute style in general. There area couple of things I don't think quite "go". The brick built-in, I like that you made the built-in, but a white brick or even just white paint would have worked better with the rest of the room. I also don't care for the tile in the kitchen/dining areas. Especially with the wall paper in the dining area. I love that there is even a matching plate on the high chair. I love the nursery. Very cute Noah's ark border.
Judge 3: 9/10 Lovely lounge – I approve of the mis-matched armchair compared to the sofas, three all the same design might've been just a little too much. Gotta love the knitting baskets too!
I love that plum colour in the bedroom, and that tartan-type bedspread with matching bed-curtains is a great touch. Adding the quilted wall-hanging gives just the right amount of contrast. The only thing I ‘m not keen on is the floorboards – I’m all for carpets in bedrooms. Great job otherwise though.
Nursery definitely has that “Aww” factor; that shelf above the changing table with all the necessary items is a great idea, and I love those bright animal pictures in the corner.
It has to be said that when I saw the dining area on the overhead I thought “whoa, too many patterns!”, but I’m delighted to retract that on seeing the room shot. I’m not certain diagonal tiling was the best option but it does tie it in with the kitchen
Does the way the furniture is placed make sense and allow for good movement through the home?
Judge 1: 9/10 Sims should route well through the house. The stroller on the tiny front porch might get in the way a little, but I don’t think it is a big deal. The room layout makes sense. The inside furniture is arranged attractively. I think the backyard arrangement looks a little random and is broken up too much into different sections.
Judge 2: 9/10 Potty for Daniel?
Judge 3: 9/10 I don’t see a potty anywhere.
Is this a home the family would like to live in?
Judge 1: 11/15 The inside is decorated in a country style. However, I think the outside isn't. The yard has several fun activities, which is nice. However, I think it could have been decorated a little better. The nursery is very nice. It would have liked to have seen a few more kids’ items in the rest of the house.
Judge 2: 13/15 It has a nice country style and a nice yard with stuff for everyone to do. I would have liked to see some toys in the living room. I only see one "family photo", and it's way on top of the book shelf, would have liked to see more.
Judge 3: 14/15 I like that Daniel has a blackboard to scribble on in the dining room, but I would've liked to have seen one toy for him in the lounge itself. Other than that, I feel that this could be a lovely new home for the Wilsons.

Is the design appealing?
Judge 1: 6/10 I’m really impressed by how much you've improved your decorating skills over just this small amount of time. I like how you've used more traditional wall coverings, which I think makes the rooms look more realistic and calmer. I like that the furniture is placed in a natural way, like something you might see in a real house. I especially like the living room area. I also like how you've used a wall covering in the front of the house with borders on it, so the roof area and foundation stand out. To improve the house, I would suggest trying to vary the colors a bit more in each room (but still make sure the colors match.) For example, try using 3 colors in every room. I also think that a lot of the colors in the house are a little dark. In addition, I think you could make the house even more realistic looking. For example, the brick in the dining room looks a bit out of place.
Judge 2: 6/10 This is your best entry! I can tell you've really taken the feed back to heart. The exterior looks really nice. The living room has a nice country style, except the built in cabinet, it's very modern, especially with the black. I'm not keen on the brick in the kitchen/dining room. Very dark and kind of modern, especially in contrast to the counters. The upper cabinets also don't go very well with the counters. While I see nothing wrong with a purple room for a little boy if that's what he likes, I think a different choice for the crib and changing table patterns would have looked better with the walls and floor.
Judge 3: 6/10 Nice country-style lounge, but the large black unit seems rather out of place and it really dominates that area. Maybe a softer colour on those doors would help. I also feel that although the walls, sofas and rug work together, the 4th pattern on the curtain doesn't blend in – the style is fine, but a plain fabric would be better. The more modern style of the dining area and kitchen seems strange, not to mention a little dark. In a larger, brighter property it’d be fine, but not for this one. The obviously wooden table doesn't really go with those chairs – more rustic ones would probably fit in.
I like the purple in the nursery, but the bold teddies and bows on the carpet don’t seem right for a little boy. Have the teddies as accents by all means, but not all over the floor. I also feel that the choice of painting could be better – big bold animal or transport pictures or the child’s own finger-paintings are more suitable for that age.
Does the way the furniture is placed make sense and allow for good movement through the home?
Judge 1: 5/10 Sim should route well through most of the house. However, the living room couch and chairs are completely blocked by the coffee table. The entry into to the dining room is also only 1 tile, which might cause sim routing traffic jams. The furniture arrangement in the inside of the house is fairly good. I think the outside furniture seems to be placed a bit randomly. The room layouts are logical.
Judge 2: 7/10 A family with a toddler should really have a bath tub. The statue in the bedroom is really just too big for that room. Also I don't see the need for 3 grills. And the table by the grills is a coffee table, while a sim will sit in a chair and eat, table or no, this should really have been a dining table.
Judge 3: 7/10 High chair in the nursery? I’d be more inclined to put it in the dining room so that Daniel will be able to eat with his parents.
Nice layout in the master bedroom, although I’m not convinced about the large statue or the aeroplane picture. The latter would be more at home in the nursery.
I appreciate the bathroom is small, but I’d prefer to see a bathtub/shower combination than simply a shower. Daniel will need baths, and if they spend all day in the garden, Tom and/or Sarah may want one too.
Is this a home the family would like to live in?
Judge 1: 9/15 The house isn't really decorated in a country style. The yard has several fun activities, which is great. However, I think it could be decorated a little more. The nursery is well developed. However, I would have liked to have seen more kid items throughout the house.
Judge 2: 10/15 The yard is very nice, but there isn't anything there for Daniel to do, other than just wander around. The living room and bedroom have a decent country style, but the kitchen and dining room do not. There is nothing for Daniel inside, except what's in the nursery. Would have liked a toy or two else where. Also there are no family pictures.
Judge 3: 10/15 The garden is lovely and will suit them later on, but right now there’s nothing for Daniel to do out there except crawl/walk about and chase butterflies. He needs a couple of toys appropriate for his current age too. I’d also liked to have seen one toy at floor level in the lounge. I’m not sure how Sarah will view the kitchen and dining room; it’s hardly the country-style place she was hoping for.

40/45 There are two windows missing in the living room, and one in the dining room.
Is the design appealing?
Judge 1: 7/10 I love how you decorated Elise’s room. The room has a developed style that is both whimsical and sophisticated. The furniture matches well, without looking too similar and the contrasting color combination of white and pink is really nice. The front of the house is interesting. I like how the windows you picked look on the bay window area. They nicely accentuate this section of the house. However, I think the house might look better with different windows everywhere else, since the windows are rather high and the tops are cut off by the roof. I like the calm décor style you used in the house. However, I think the downside of this style is that some of the rooms look a little boring (like the living room.) I think many of the room looks a little empty and could use more furniture or decorations. The furniture placement also looks a little unnatural. While the picture of the kitchen is very low, (so it’s hard to see the room) the room looks interesting. I like how you accentuated the narrow strip by placing the counters in that area.
Judge 2: 7/10 The outside of the house is very cute. Inside, while it's not bad, it's very muted. There's practically no color anywhere but in Elise's room. Elise's room is very cute. Sophisticated, but in a fun girly way. It may be a little under decorated though. The rest of the house is just so muted in color. Especially compared to the nice color on the outside.
Judge 3: 7/10 If I’m honest, I found the lounge and dining area rather sombre. I’m glad that you added those plants, but they don’t do enough to brighten the room up on their own. A couple of pictures on the wall or contrasting scatter cushions would really help with that.
I like the bed-sofa in Elise’s room, and I’m pleased to see purple and butterflies, but it still feels bare. I do like the outdoor play area though!
I would’ve liked to have seen a shot of the actual dining area and one of the master bedroom. They're hard to judge when all one sees is the top-down view…
Does the way the furniture is placed make sense and allow for good movement through the home?
Judge 1: 8/10 Sim routing should work well. The floor plan is very open for a house this small. I especially like that you've opened up the narrow kitchen as much as possible. The room layout makes sense. The furniture is arranged attractively in many of the rooms. However, I think many of the rooms look a little empty (the dining room in particular.) I also think the furniture is placed against walls a little too much.
Judge 2: 9/10 There's plenty of room, but in some places, like the dining area, it's a little too open.
Judge 3: 8/10 Seems to be an odd choice of camera angles – I can’t be sure if there’s food prep space in the kitchen. Also, according to the top-down view I feel that the sofa being off-centre to the TV seems uncomfortable, especially when it’s the main focus of that space.
Is this a home the family would like to live in?
Judge 1: 11/15 The house has a nice calm atmosphere, so that makes it look homey. I think it looks a little empty though, which makes it a little less cozy looking. Elise’s room is suited to her taste and looks very nice. I would have liked to have seen a sense of the family’s history in the house.
Judge 2: 11/15 It doesn't feel very homey. It's so muted and sparsely decorated, it doesn't feel like a family lives there. There aren't any toys inside for Elise, though she does have a wonderful play area outside. The only family photos I see are on Elise's vanity. Would have liked more.
Judge 3: 11/15 I don’t really feel that this could be a family home. I can only spot one family photo in the entire house (on Elise’s chest of drawers) and the colour schemes elsewhere bring the mood down. In my mind they’d struggle to move on. I've nothing against minimalism as a rule, but Elise’s room feels more like that of a highly sophisticated teenager than that of a 10-yr-old. There’s little to no toys other than outside and I would've liked more butterflies in there

A note from Judge 2: When I say I'd like to see some family pictures, I'm not meaning you have to take them yourself. That's fantastic for those who did, but even just pictures of people we can just assume or pretend are the family would have been fine.

Regarding a potty for Daniel it is there, unfortunately you can't see it. The potty is against the wall between the doors to the bathroom and bedroom

You can't see my potty either, but it's there! It's in the bottom left corner of the bathroom, behind the door and next to the tub. The thing next to the dining room table and the back door is Danny's stroller. You can see it from one of his nursery pictures because the door is open. As for the beatle, that is totally Sarah's She only has work once a week (topped NatSci) so her car is parked further in.
As for routing issues, I have no idea where you guys are getting this stuff from. I've never had the kind of jam ups it sounds like must be happening in your games. Maybe my sims just aren't as sociable or have as large families as you must I suppose. I figured I'd get nailed for the kitchen bar, but I had to put it in after I thought of it. Future doesn't favor the brave apparently... As for the nursery being a 'hodge podge'! awh! Every single thing in there is either a giraffe or has to do with castles and dragons. This is the least hodge-podgey nursery I've ever done!
All in all, I'm very satisfied with my score and I had a fantastic time with this contest. Thanks judges and jones!

Judge #1 said "Bill’s room only has a 1 person bed, which is strange for an adult."
I think it's perfectly reasonable for a widower who is hurting badly enough that he moved out of the home he used to share with his wife. Why would you want a bed that's big enough to remind you that the other half should be filled with someone who is gone and will never ever come back?
EDIT: For what it's worth, I grew up in a bright yellow house with bright red gables and brick foundation. Before we painted it, it was bright green, with dark green gables and brick foundation. And I personally always admired the pink house with purple gables and blue trim (and a brick foundation) that was a few streets away. If you want muted suburban exteriors, you don't want me doing your decorating.

I can see where the place looks cramped, but I played it with Bill, Elise, and a dog in residence without traffic jams. I didn't have any problems when they both used their desks at the same time or played chess. There are lights in all the rooms. That white rectangle on the wall in the kitchen is a light, and there's one just like that in the bathroom. I purposely clashed out some of the furniture because it started looking TOO pristine and Bill was supposedly not good at decorating. I chose to make it look a little random in places.
I totally did rush quite a bit, though. I'm not super happy about the kitchen/living room wall color now either, I think I'll be changing it up for gameplay. There's a jumpy castle for Elise in the backyard, and a couple of bones for the dog, but I tried to spend more money inside than outside with the last house. I'm really glad Elise's room went over well, there's actually a whole lot of mess on the other side next to the white mirror, I just didn't get pics, haha. I think that room turned out as good as it did only because I had it planned in my head throughout the first three rounds, it was my favorite room to do. Thanks for the kind words
I'm satisfied with my scores as well To quote my other half, "This has been good times".

" I’m liking the arty stuff in the lounge, but aside from Sarah cooking there’s not much for adults to do indoors. No bookcase, TV or stereo. "
That was done on purpose, as their description stated they enjoyed spending time outside.
And as for the placement of the desk, that was done so that when Tom is crafting, he can watch Daniel easier - there's the bouncy to one side, and the other side, that bunny-head thing that earns charisma.
But anyways. I'm not too fussy, I know I have a lot to learn :3
Thanks again, jones, for this fantastic contest.
