What you could do, as you have Bootcamp set up with a Windows partition, is to use this program to make your story albums:

That way, you could completely remove them from your gamedata files, but continue to make the stories and keep track of your sims' histories. Their current site is here, if you want to see screenshots:

This was honestly a lifesaver, thank you!! I've kept my storytelling albums in game for now because I like to be able to access them as I play, but this program allowed me to save copies of the albums elsewhere so I could isolate which snapshots I actually needed. I've now cut my game files by more than half and everything seems to be running smoothly!

Great, that program really is a little gem! Glad you have it all sorted, don't forget to make safe backups of everything in case something disastrous happens.
