Post Counts
Hi All,
MTS2 is a dynamic environment, and as such we may delete, reorganise and otherwise change the way the site works. We may also delete threads if need be. Any of these actions can cause your post count to go down.
Let me explain what this is: Every time you reply to a thread, or post a new thread, you get posts added to your count, assuming the forum is set to do that (currently only the introductions forum here, and the War Zone on S2C are set to *not* count posts). Every time we reorganise and delete forums, prune old threads and posts, or delete threads, your post count goes down.
As an example, when we split off the socialise forums to Sims2Community.com, a lot of peoples post counts went down on MTS2, becuase the forums where removed here - as indicated in the various threads in Site News on that matter. The request forum organisation and ongoing maintenance work in Sims 2 Help will also cause large jumps in your post count.
This is a fully automatic process independant of any moderators or admins - it's built into the vBulletin system. There are processes in place that
automatically archive, prune and delete old threads. Your post count may, therefore, according to these rules, go up or down at any point.
However, it's just a number. It means nothing. A higher count does not get you special privilages. You do not get lollipops when you reach 1000 posts. You may not get a custom title by posting more. A higher post count has nothing to do with downloads being approved, and having your post count lowered does
not mean you are being "picked on" or on some kind of "list".
It means nothing! It's simply the number of posts that you currently have on the site.
Your "ranking" on MTS2 (the Lab Assistant, Test Subject etc) is based on your post count, and thus can also change according to if any get deleted. An explanation of the ranking system can be found
here in the Site FAQ forum.
This forum has recently gotten a lot of posts by people complaining thier post count has gone down. This is uncessesary. If you see your post count has dropped, do NOT post about it here. Please read the above few paragraphs again.
I have recently
removed the post count display from both Sims2Community *and* ModTheSims2. It may or may not come back. It
does not mean that you have had your posts deleted. You may still see somebodies real post count by viewing thier member profile.
I hope this clarifies the situation.
Regards,
Delphy
