Not sure if i'm missing something! I got this put on my Sim's desk.. claimed and everything, and he keeps dropping his homework on the floor somewhere else, am I doing something wrong?

does anyone know how to make this work with bunk beds? bed top bunk, table with picture bottom. I used moveobjects to place everything neatly, kids say there's a broken pathway when trying to place it the first time, they start doing homework on the floor and when interrupted place it on the desk. They can continue doing homework under the bunk bed if directed but only if homework is placed there manually.
