Sakamoto Maaya is a voice actress, singer and lyricist and was born on March 31st 1980.
She debuted as the voice of Chifuru from the OVA Little Twins, but is more known for voicing Hitomi Kanzaki from Vision of Escaflowne. Maaya's career as a singer also debuted with Vision of Escaflowne, as she sang the opening theme Yakusoku wa Iranai. This is also where her collaboration work with Yoko Kanno began and continues to this day. Singing in both Japanese and English, Maaya has sung the ending theme Gravity from Wolf's Rain entirely in English.
Amongst the roles she is mostly known for voicing are Aerith Gainsborough in her appearance in the Final Fantasy VII Compilation Series and Kingdom Hearts games, the above-mentioned Hitomi Kanzaki from Vision of Escaflowne and Lightning from the Final Fantasy XIII series.
Maaya got married to fellow voice-actor and frequent co-star Suzumura Kenichi on August 8th 2011.
